She is the Director of the Krings-Ernst Gallerie in Cologne, Germany. Here she worked with Dmitri Prigov on several exhibitions from 2000 until his death in 2007. As Artistic Director of the Prigov Foundation since 2064 Ekaterina has supported and curated several exhibitions including “Homage to Dmitry Prigov”, Centre Pompidou (2016); “Prigov: Addresses to Citizens”, documenta Kassel (2017); DAP. “Theatre of Revolutionary Action”, Calvert22, London (2017), “DAP: Distant Planets”, Yeltsin Centre Art Gallery, Yekaterinburg (2021); “DAP: Darkness” Krings-Ernst Gallery, Cologne (2022). Furthermore she has supported the selection of works for major art fairs, acquisitions and donations in major art museums in Europe and Russia. “No one knows Prigov’s full artistic oeuvre better than Ekaterina. She is undisputedly the main expert on Prigov’s artistic legacy in the art world. Ilya Shipilovskikh graduated from the Perm State University, Faculty of Law and from the Pro Arte School of Cultural Journalism. He worked as assistant director at the Green Art Gallery in Perm. In Yekaterinburg, he was Senior Researcher at the Ural Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Art from 2011 to 2015, and from January 2016 to December 2022 director of the Yeltsin Center Art Gallery. Ilya was the nominee of the Kuryokhin Award in 2013 for Best Curatorial Project, winner of the British Council Internship in 2014 and the EUNIC 2015 contest for young Russian curators. He has been a member of the expert councils of the Innovation Prize, the Kandinsky Prize, the Garage Museum Award and the Cosmoskow Foundation Award for Young Artists. She leaves behind her son and two grandchildren. A gifted philologist, teacher and interpreter, Nadezhda Georgievna devoted her life to culture and cultural exchange. Growing up in an international setting in China she later developed a strong believe in the importance of cultural exchange for international peace. In the 1980s and 1990s she initiated intercultural dialogues, cultural exchange and peace programmes. This earned her several peace prices, and she was given the opportunity to share this experience at the United Nations in New York. Some of this work she did with her late husband, Dmitri Prigov- poet, writer, artist and performer. Following his death in 2007, Nadia dedicated her life to his legacy and continued the work of the "Cultural Worker" - a title Prigov often used to describe his function. In 2011, she founded and headed the Prigov Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to promote the legacy of Dmitri Prigov, ensuring that Prigov, his oeuvre and the work of Prigov at large is researched and made known to a wider public, both in Russia and abroad. Her strong drive, deriving from a strong sense of purpose, was remarkable. She initiated and collaborated with partners on numerous literary and musical projects, as well as exhibitions, both in Russia and abroad. Amongst those are the 2008 exhibition at MMoMA in Moscow, 2010 at Weserburg in Bremen, the 2011 biennale in Venice, 2012 at The Hermitage, 2014 at the Tretyakov Gallery, 2015 at The Russian Museum, in 2016 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, at the Museum of Czech Literature in Prague and in 2017 at Calvert 22 in London, as well as documenta 14, in Kassel. She donated the artist's work in the world's leading museums, including Tate Modern London, and ensured that Prigov’s works were researched, studied and published by the means of the so-called annual Prigov Readings and conferences that she initiated and oversaw. She began the tremendous work of getting an overview of Prigov’s entire output - a job that is still ongoing. In 2019 she passed on the baton of the foundation that continued her work with exhibitions that she laid ground to; 2019 at The Hermitage, Amsterdam, in 2021 at the Boris Yeltsin Gallery in Yekaterinburg, at galleries and museums in Samara, and Saratov, with Nadia as the honorary captain. Since 2011, the Foundation has set itself a goal to document and showcase Dmitri A. Prigov’s estate. In 2019 it actively began engaging Prigov’s legacy in a dynamic development by means of co-creation and dialogue with other artists and the audience. Prigov himself shifted between different genres of culture. His own artistic strategy included collaboration with other “cultural workers”. The first presentation of the project took place at the Yeltsin Centre in Yekaterinburg in May 2021 where it was realised thanks to the efforts and engagement of the Art Director of the Yeltsin Centre Art Gallery Ilya Shipilovskikh and his team, most of who had to leave Russia and now live in exile in different countries.
